Two Ring Portuguese Waterford

The Two Ring Waterford bit has a single joint attached to a large loose ring [with one small ring attached to the top and one small ring attached to the bottom on the large loose ring]. The Waterford Bit is a more flexible mouthpiece with multiple jointed balls forming the mouthpiece of the bit. This mouthpiece helps prevent the horse from holding onto the bit, leaning or setting its jaw and with the added rings places poll pressure on the horse thus creating leverage on the lower jaw and poll.

An important point to remember with all Waterford bits (excluding the Waterford Pelham) is that they should be ¼” to ½” longer than your horse’s usual mouthpiece as the mouthpiece needs to curve slightly around the horse’s mouth.
