Waterford Pelham

The Waterford Pelham bit, with it ball shaped links helps to encourage the horse to keep its jaw relaxed and is useful for horses that lean on the bit or take hold of the bit as the ball shaped links allow movement in the mouth, preventing the horse from holding onto the bit, leaning or setting its jaw. The movability of the bit mouthpieces also allows the bit to fit to the horse’s mouth, contouring over the different areas in the horse’s mouth. This bit is ideal for horses that both lean on the bit and require a bit stopping power than with other Pelham bits.

As with all Pelham’s, double reins should be used, one as a snaffle rein which has direct contact with the horse’s mouth and a second curb rein to apply poll pressure and bring the horses nose more towards its chest. Rein connectors can be used.
