Tom Thumb

A Tom Thumb bit is a Western style of Pelham but with one rein, a jointed mouth piece and shanks on either side ranging from between 15-18cm in length. It is classed as a leverage and curb bit without direct pressure and as a result of its jointed centre can cause a nutcracker effect. The severity of the bit is increased with the length of the bit shanks on either side.
