Description
As with all Pelham’s, double reins should be used, one as a snaffle rein which has direct contact with the horse’s mouth and a second curb rein to apply poll pressure and bring the horses nose more towards its chest. As this bit contains a single joint in the mouthpiece, the nutcracker effect is present. Horse breeds with large tongues or low pallets may not be suited to this type of bit (examples of such breeds include Arabians and Draught horses).
